General Cleaning
A Professional Cleaning and Polishing to Encourage Overall Oral Health
What is a General Cleaning?
Typically recommended at least every six months, a general cleaning is an integral part to the overall health and wellness of your smile. A general cleaning is both diagnostic and preventative in nature. If there is an issue, the problem can be addressed and a course of action can be set forth. If your oral health is excellent, the preventative care including fluoride, plaque and stain removal, thorough cleaning and polishing will support continued wellness for the months to come. A general cleaning is maximized when combined with regular brushing and flossing habits at home in between visits.

Make you feel comfortable and welcomed.
Prior to beginning the cleaning, we want to make sure you are feeling informed and comfortable. Whether you are a new patient or a returning patient, we will review your chart, making sure our information is fully updated to best serve your needs. At this stage, our team will offer access to our luxury amenities to promote your relaxation during the cleaning process.
Take a look at your smile.
One of our hygienists will do a physical inspection of your mouth, assessing the health of your teeth and gums. Using a small mirror, our hygienist can thoroughly check for inflammation or potential concerns.
Work away the plaque.
Using a scaler and a small mirror, we will carefully remove the plaque and tartar buildup along your gum line. The length of time needed for this step is dependent upon the level of build up. Brushing and flossing appropriately greatly combats tartar and plaque buildup.
Brush professionally.
Twice a year, a more vigorous brushing can greatly support the overall health of your teeth. Using a high-powered electric brush paired with a professional grade toothpaste, we will clean away stains and any residual tartar left by the scaler.
Floss thoroughly.
Even if you are a consistent with flossing at home, your smile will benefit from flossing by a professional. With the better viewpoint, our staff can address hard to reach spots as well as making sure no debris from the cleaning lingers between your teeth.
Rinse away.
Now that your smile has been meticulously cleaned and polished, you will be encouraged to rinse. If needed, a fluoride or mouthwash may be provided.
