Typically between the age of 17-25, a third set of molars known as wisdom teeth emerge. In most cases, wisdom teeth do not fit properly with your existing smile. Due to their ability to shift and crowd your current teeth, early removal is usually recommended. Beyond the crowding issues, these teeth can cause pain by getting stuck in unfortunate places. In hard to reach places, bacteria can grow and impact your whole mouth so these teeth should be dealt with before causing further problems.
Before undergoing your procedure, we want to make you at rest. In addition to our spa amenities, there are several options for sedation. In most cases, moderate sedation is utilized so no discomfort is experienced.
While you are comfortably resting, we will remove the problem carefully. If needed, dis-solvable stitches will be used to encourage healing. The whole procedure is completed in under an hour.
Each patient responds differently, but generally pain and swelling is only noticeable for a few days. Eat soft foods, utilize heat and cold packs, rest, and take pain medications as directed.
